Will Be Held on Sunday April 27th, 2008

 Registration: $25.00 (before Race Day) - $30.00 (Race Day)

** The Bureau of Land Management now requires that
all bikers must wash their bikes before the race to prevent
carrying in seeds, noxious weed, sand pollens unfamiliar to the area. **

8:00 a.m. at the Start/Finish area  

Mile Marker 2 on Navajo Dam Rd.
(also known as Highway #173) 

9:30 am - Pre-Race Meeting
10:00 am - Race Start
(Trail is pre-marked with orange signs one week prior to race)
 1:00 pm - Awards Ceremony/Lunch
(at the finish line)

and all other classes will be adjusted based on the number of riders.)

YOUR TRAIL

The "Alien Run at Hart Canyon" is a mountain bike trail that was developed by private citizens, Al & Deral Saiz along with two other brothers and various friends, all residents of Aztec. The trail was designed in response to the Friends of the Aztec Library's call for a mountain bike rally as a possible fund-raiser during Aztec UFO99. These brothers responded to that call and designed the trail that circles the "alleged" crash site in Hart Canyon and is located on BLM Land . A special use permit was applied for but the proper studies that needed to be done for BLM clearance had not been done.  The July 2000 issue of New Mexico Magazine, featured a story on the trail as well as the local paper, The Daily Times. There have been inquiries from as far away as Hawaii , New York , and Montana , who accessed this information via the Aztec Library's Web Page

While novices can navigate the trail easily, it is still challenging for the seasoned expert and the scenery is spectacular - especially as you ride past the Aztec UFO Crash Site. Alien Run is one of the best trails in the Four Corners Area and some say one of the best in the nation. The BLM is currently in the process of designating the trail as an official Hike and Bike Trail.


TRAIL RULES

1. All race numbers must be clearly visible
2. All bikers must wear an ansi or snell approved helmet during event.
3. No help or outside support is allowed.
4. There will be no following or leading any biker in a motorized vehicle.
5. Race officials will have authority to "assist" racers deemed to be in physical distress.
6. Bicycle course is not a completely closed course! You are responsible exercising caution, good judgment, obeying all traffic laws, and following directions of race officials at all times.
7. Bikers will not stop for any reason on the course, but will pull off well to the side if stopping is necessary.
8. Bikers will not crowd, run into, run over, fly over or use other bikers for traction in sharp corners or on steep hills.
9. Bikers will not ride recklessly or in any manner endanger the safety of themselves or other bikers or spectators at any time.
