What is the Aztec UFO symposium? A benefit for the Aztec Public Library sponsored by the Friends of the Aztec Library. A weekend of events commemorating the alleged crash of a UFO in March, 25 1948, 12 miles NW of Aztec. The symposium itself includes a dinner, guest speakers, tours to the crash site and presentations investigating our specific "crash" and other matters relating to UFO's, aliens on Earth, government knowledge of such, personal experiences, human interest in such matters, and scientific evidence on the subject. 2. Do we believe there was a UFO Crash near Aztec? We take no position on what happened in Hart Canyon in 1948, or any other such "crashes" or "sightings"; our theme is "UFO’s, Fact or Fiction? We want to know". The Friends of the Aztec Public Library, a non-profit organization, has one objective in sponsoring the symposium: to raise funds for our library in Aztec. 3. When is the Symposium? The weekend of March 28-30, 2008. Registration for the Symposium can be purchased in advance. You can Pay online for the Symposium by visiting our Registration Page 4. Where will events happen? All events will be in the town of Aztec and at the "Crash Site" about 12 miles from downtown Aztec (Guided Tours Available). Symposium meetings, lectures, films, and panels. Lots of vendors offering all sorts of wares. There will be a Meet & Greet Dinner to kick off the conference on Friday night. This a chance to sit with the speakers and ask them questions before the ufo conference on Saturday. The festival will offer something fun for everyone in the family. 5. Where is Aztec, NM? What about tours to the Site? The "Crash Site" is 12 miles from Aztec on typical natural-gas field roads - dusty, bumpy and confusing without good maps. If you choose not to or cannot drive your own vehicle, a certain number of privately guided tours will be available. If you drive, the way from town to the site will be well marked and we will provide you with a map. Once you reach the site, you will find signs to guide you on easy trails to the supposed "site", the new memorial plaque, and the mysterious alien head staring at the sky. Bring water and good walking shoes, a hat with a brim and a wind-breaker, and lots of questions. Also, you can walk the mesa top on marked trails, or ride your mountain bike on a 12km loop from the site over beautiful terrain through pinion and juniper forests with spectacular views. If you explore the surrounding canyons further, there are springs, natural arches, game trails, box canyons, cap mesas, and even Indian sites within a few miles of the "crash site". 10.
